After being scouted by Muhammad Ali from his career as a professional wrestler, he transitioned to become the first Japanese heavyweight boxer. However, his gym’s license was suspended, forcing him to return to professional wrestling.
His debut match took place at the Kokugikan in front of a large audience of 14,000 people.
He is the only wrestler in history to have defeated both Nick Bockwinkel and The Great Kabuki and The Great Muta.
